Turning a t-shirt into a tote bag was the first re-craft project I ever attempted and it is very easy to do. You can make a bag in about 10 minutes. This would be a great craft project for a Birthday Party (child or adult) or Girl's Night Out and all you need is a pair of scissors and any kind of t-shirt.  |
Step 1: Begin with a t-shirt and keep in mind whatever size t-shirt you use will determine the size of the bag. For example, a larger t-shirt will make a larger bag.  Step 2: Cut off the collar, sleeves and bottom trim.  Step 3: Cut 1 inch strips across the bottom of the shirt. You can make them as long as you like. The longer they are the easier they will be to tie.  Step 4: Tie the strips together all the way across the bottom. This will close the bag. You can reinforce the bag by sewing above the knots (if you like to sew).  |
